We live on a planet we call earth. Over the past fifty years or so there has been a steady migration from rural areas to urban areas and cities. In such movements humans have become disconnected from the ebb and flow of daily and seasonal cycles. We no longer plan for the fall harvests in the spring or wait for a tide to rise and go fishing. Many people no longer regularly see sunrises or sunsets, spending the majority of their time indoors.
Using training experiences that incorporate NATURE into the program - the smell of the forest or ocean, wildlife drinking at the edge of the river or lake, raindrops from a tree above or the splash of a wave along a hull all provide links to the world around us connecting us to forces that go back generations. Natural instincts, insights and feelings create a milieu in which to focus, relax and re-energize and experience the world in a different way. Nature provides us with amazing teaching tools to help us understand ourselves, our ‘neighbors’ and our lives – both on a personal and professional level.
Working in partnership with local guides and outfitters across Canada CanMediate International offers a range of open and customized personal and professional development courses held in the great outdoors. We also offer specialized professional development opportunities for professionals working in the conflict management field (either formally or informally). Join us to explore leadership, conflict management skills, team dynamics and more while canoeing, sea kayaking, hiking or sailing!
No experience necessary! All courses are supported by professional guides, facilitators and instructors as required.
The great outdoors is a wonderful learning environment that cannot be duplicated in a classroom.
